Advocacy and Special Interests Groups

What is an Advocacy Group?

An advocacy groups (also known as lobby or special interest groups) use various forms of advocacy in order to influence public opinion and/or policy.

What can be done to hold an Advocacy Group accountable?

Although an elected official can do little in their official capacity to hold an advocacy organization accountable, as an elected State Representative I will strive to seek the truth in matters before the State of Oklahoma using as many reliable and trustworthy sources as possible.

If I find an advocacy group is using unreliable data, misrepresenting facts in order to achieve a goal that is inconsistent with the best interests of my constituents in House District 47, I will make a point to highlight their errors and counter with truthful information.  I think honesty and factual research is the best way to be accountable.
